Very few options exist in India for
confidential HIV related testing or counselling services.
In response to this and to meet the demand from significant
numbers of participants of YRG CARE prevention programmes
who sought to know their sero-status, YRG CARE established
a dedicated laboratory for HIV antibody testing. Counselling
is considered part of the organization's overall comprehensive
prevention, care and support program. With the appropriate
use of skills and attitudes that reduce stigma, over 13000
individuals from varied walks of life have been provided HIV
counselling and testing services (and follow-up services if
sero-positive).

Steps Involved in Voluntary Counseling and Testing:
YRGCARE has devised a comprehensive and a thorough testing procedure to check for the presence of HIV in an individual. To get tested one has to go through four basic steps. These four steps put together are holistic in nature where an individual will get the much needed care and support from a team of well trained counselors and medical professionals. The testing services have so far benefitted thousands of people from different walks of life. With the stigma attached to HIV in the society still widely prevalent the institutions strict adherence to safeguarding the anonymity of the individuals getting tested has been a saving grace and this has also encouraged more people to come forward and getting themselves tested. The test result will be made available within a couple of hours hence fitting the entire process within a few hours. A HIV test at YRGCARE would not only remove any doubt one has about his or her status but also help us in attaining our ultimate goal of providing care and support to all the affected.
