Design on HIV/AIDS Awareness:
Senior Students, College of Arts & Crafts lend
their talent:
YRG CARE arranged a poster design programme for the
senior students of Tamilnadu Government College of
Arts and Crafts recently. Forty students participated.
Mr. K. Chandrasekar (Chandru), Principal, appreciated
YRG CARE’s interest in involving students of
arts in such awareness campaigns which would encourage
them to display their creative talents and motivate
them to participate in social welfare activities.
Mr. Malarmannan, Media and Communication Advisor,
YRG CARE explained the activities of YRG CARE, its
uniqueness as a centre for research and education
as well as provider of clinical support to people
living with HIV/AIDS. Mr. S.K. Satishkumar, Training
Officer, YRG CARE, detailed the salient features of
the infection along with methods for its prevention,
so that the young artists could conceptualise their
visual expression.

Five themes that included reducing discrimination against
people living with HIV/AIDS, prevention, ARV therapy,
personal care for people living with HIV, and adherence
to taking medicines, were given.
Mr.Rm. Palaniappan, Secretary, Southern Region, Lalit
Kala Academy, Mr. Chandrasekaran, Principal, College
of Arts and Crafts and Dr. Suniti Solomon, Director,
YRG CARE selected six poster designs done by students
P. Manikandan, M. Sivakumar, R. Wilson David, S. Chthirai
Selvan, M. Bhaskar and R. Harikrishnan. Each student
was awarded a certificate of merit and Rs. 1000/-.
YRG CARE will use the selected posters for its awareness
programmes and campaigns.
YRG CARE could successfully conduct the programme,
thanks to the sponsorship of poster colour boxes with
brushes from Pidlite Industries Ltd and art boards
from Sankeshwara Indian Engineering Industries. |
