Initiated by YRGCARE as an annual update and appraisal in the management of HIV /AIDS, the symposium on Chennai Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) of the year 2008 (CART 2008) was held in Chennai January 11 through 12 this year. The symposium was attended by a large number of clinicians involved in providing care and support to people living with HIV, medical residents and students, members of NGOs and social activists.
They were addressed by national and international faculty. The symposium focused on pathogenesis of HIV disease, principles of ART, drug toxicities, drug-drug interactions, immune reconstitution syndrome, drug resistance, new drugs and targets, HIV and co-infections, pediatric HIV infection and laboratory markers.
