A
2.4 km walk was arranged by Standard Chartered Bank
(SCB) and YRG CARE along side Marina Beach (the 2nd.
longest beach in the world) on November 30, 2005.
The commissioner of Police Mr. Natrajan flagged of
the march at Labor statute, the anthem played was
“Stand Up, Speak Up”, on HIV/AIDS. The
walk was studded with balloons and banners urging
the public to seek information on queries of HIV/AIDS
over the hot line facility of YRG CARE. A massive
Human Red Ribbon formation was made at the end of
the event. About 600 volunteers participated in this
march. A giant sized condom mingled with the crowd
and evoked curious glances from the public. |

street play was conducted by PSI (Population Services
International). The Director of YRG CARE, Dr. Suniti
Solomon gave a brief speech to the gathering and requested
the youth to make informed choices and counter stigma
attached to HIV/AIDS. The Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) of Scope International (a division of SCB),
Mr. Sreeram Iyer conveyed the solidarity of SCB in
championing the cause of the pandemic. Ms. Gill Snell,
Chief Information Officer, SCB-United Kingdom and
Mr. James Hopkinson, Senior Auditor of SCB were also
present at the occasion. |
