On a Sunday that follows
every two months, YRG CARE gets filled with the din that accompanies
the hustle and bustle of kids. About 100 HIV positive children
from all across South India come for the follow-up on their
health. The full days check up concludes with the distribution
of “Health Hampers” that constitutes:
a) Soy drink supplement 4 packets (200 mg each)
b) A packet of 24 assorted biscuits
c) Fortified malt based drink
d) Vitamins and mineral supplements
e) Toys and clothing
The kids take back home memories of happiness, and thus maintain
the follow up of their health. The manufacturers of the above
items have predominantly sponsored these hampers. However,
owing to the increasing numbers of children accessing care
and treatment, a threat of a break of sustenance of this initiative
looms large. An annual pledge of Rs. 672,000/- ensures a continuing
smile of well-being on each child’s face. |
