| Objective |
- To be a resource for organizational and program development
and skills building trainings in Sexuality and HIV/AIDS
prevention, counselling, laboratory methods and clinical
care
- To build capacities to use the best public health practices
for the prevention, diagnosis and management of HIV and
sexually transmitted diseases.
- To increase access to and scale-up services that promote
quality of life and well being of persons living with
or affected by HIV.

Under a Ford Foundation
Grant, a national workshop at Chennai for Ford Grantees in
India working on HIV/AIDS |
| The YRG
CARE agenda for training sets forth the following key guidelines: |
- Decrease the stigma and fear associated with HIV and
AIDS through building local resources in delivery of HIV,
sex and sexuality IEC for adolescents and young adults
(programme supported by a Ford Foundation Grant)
- Reduce mother-child transmission of HIV through workshops
for Obstetricians and Gynaecologists on preventing perinatal
transmission of HIV through ACTG076 (1997-98) (under a
Paediatric AIDS Foundation/ University of Maryland Grant)
- Develop skills of the medical fraternity in diagnosis
of HIV related illnesses and its treatment (through an
AUSAID Grant) and update knowledge of medical practitioners
and nurses (a BCD Indo-UK Link Programme, since 1991)
- Impart practical knowledge in HIV nursing through a
certificate programme in association with the Scottish
Centre for Infectious and Environmental Health (SCIEH)
for nurses in employment
- Increase the capacity of volunteers and CBO representatives
in nursing and counselling, building capacity in the community,
to care for people with HIV and AIDS.
- Improve hospital infection control practices of hospital
workers in select hospitals in Chennai city
- Upgrade the skills of our staff to achieve the vision
